This year's presentation
For Market Art Fair 2025, Loji Höskuldsson will create a site-specific polyptych that takes its departure in Höskuldsson’s experience of living in Stockholm for a year.
Together, the works depict a year living close to Skärgården in Höskuldsson’s iconic style. Each work celebrates a different seasonal period. The monumental tableau, Höskuldsson’s largest work to date, will engage Swedish landscape, flora, fauna, regional products, traditions and customs as experienced through Icelandic eyes and mind. Elements such as midsommerstång, smorgasbord, Volvo, midsommarbuffe, kräfta, ägghalvor, älgskylt, kanelbullar, blåsippa, snödroppar, skata, ABBA, envelopes from skatteverket, snapsglas, Barsebäck, Robyn, Systembolaget, Hilma af Klint, lussebullen, Bergman, lingonberries, Saab and Ahlgrens bilar appear as embroideries in the works.
In Höskuldsson’s embroideries, there is a soft hope for humanity on the brink. His works have a disarming way of observing and contemplating our shared existence.
