Emma Kohlmann, US
Emma Kohlmann’s work evokes a contemporary feminine mythology in her lush ink washes and watercolors, which position images of plants, butterflies, and birds alongside enigmatic faces and figures.
Her paintings are situated in an always-shifting, folksy inner landscape. The deeply saturated tones evoke dreams, nightmares or visions from the collective unconscious; fitting for a painter that mostly starts working at the cusp of dawn.
Emma Kohlmann (b. in 1989 in The Bronx, New York), lives and works in Florence, Massachusetts, United States. She holds a BA from Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts.
