This year's presentation
At Market Art Fair 2025, Galleri Bo Bjerggaard presents an exhibition featuring the Brazilian/German artist Janaina Tschäpe (b. 1973) and the Danish-born Per Kirkeby (1938-2018).
These two artists, from different generations, share a common fascination with landscape painting, though their approaches and expressions differ significantly. Tschäpe explores both the inner and outer landscape in her works, where her bold brushstrokes reflect the expanses and forms of nature, while the more refined strokes express the mental states of humanity. Her paintings open a dialogue between the mind and nature, merging the personal with the universal.
Per Kirkeby, a trained geologist, approached the landscape from a scientific perspective, constantly exploring and interpreting the structures of nature. In his sculptures, hand-modeled inplaster and then cast in bronze, he captured the forms of nature, a language he translated into his paintings. This exhibition brings Tschäpe’ s paintings into conversation with Kirkeby’s sculptures, creating a dynamic interplay between two different yet complementary approaches to landscape and the forms of nature.
