Landscapes of Memories
Petra Lindholm at Galleri Magnus Karlsson, presenting textile assemblages and video works where memory and nature shape immersive landscapes.
In her practice, Petra Lindholm moves effortlessly between the digital, two-dimensional and the analogue, tactile. Her images emerge as streams of landscapes shaped by memories, subconscious thought, and personal experiences, where perception and sensation meet in layered, evolving compositions.
Born in Karis, Finland, and based in Småland, Lindholm has collaborated with Galleri Magnus Karlsson for many years. Last year, she presented a large installation in the Liljevalchs+ staircase as part of Market Extended, transforming the space with her poetic approach to material and form.

For this year’s fair, the gallery presents a solo presentation focused on Lindholm’s textile works combined with videoworks. Visitors are invited to enter her world and encounter her textile assemblages alongside the sounds that shape them, whether through vocals, composed elements, or the resonance of a tuning fork. Sound is an integral part of her practice, weaving through the layers of material and image.
Her work is informed by life in Småland, where she often turns inward and responds to the stillness of nature. Observations of light, weather, and subtle environmental shifts appear in her compositions, and in her previous works she has incorporated sunbeams and astrology, showing her attention to the rhythms of the natural world.

Petra Lindholm, 'Up North', (2025)
Lindholm’s process is associative and evolving. She layers materials she creates or collects through travel and reflection until a composition emerges. Each layer builds on the previous one, allowing image and sound to interact and suggest rather than dictate. The finished works unfold slowly, offering immersive landscapes shaped by memory, intuition, and experience, inviting viewers to engage with the subtle, poetic worlds she constructs.
