Gerdman Gallery presents Materiality of Memory, featuring emerging Swedish artists Sigrid Soomus and Johnny Höglund. Both artists share an engagement with material, the body, and memory, approaching materiality as both subject and vessel for lived experience.

Through sculptural and painterly practices, surfaces and textures become sites where traces of time, presence, and transformation are recorded and revealed. Soomus’s tactile interventions with industrial materials explore the tension between instability and endurance, evoking the fragile persistence of memory. Höglund’s slow, meticulous translations of digital residues into painterly gestures invite viewers into an embodied reflection on impermanence, reproduction, and perception. Together, their works form a space where memory, matter, and experience intertwine, encouraging visitors to con-sider the dialogue between the physical and the remembered.
