When is Market Art Fair 2026?

Market Art Fair will take place on 23–26 April, 2026, with VIP days 22-24 April.

Where is the fair held?

In 2026, Market Art Fair will for the first time be held at Magasin 9 in Frihamnen, Stockholm adjacent to Djurgården National Park and close to central Stockholm. The new venue allows the fair to expand and create an even better experience for exhibitors and visitors. It also improves accessibility, with connections by public transport, ferry, dedicated shuttle buses, and ample parking. The venue is also within walking and cycling distance from central Stockholm.

How do I apply?

Applications are submitted through our online form. You can save and return to your application until the deadline on October 15, 2025. To be considered by the Selection Committee, all applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of 4000 SEK (approx. 350 EUR) excluding VAT.

When will the results be communicated?

The Selection Committee will meet at the end of October, and results will be announced during the first week of November. If you are placed on the waiting list, you will be notified as soon as possible – at the latest in early 2026.

Who is on the Selection Committee?

Market Art Fair’s Selection Committee consists exclusively of highly qualified current and former museum directors, ensuring independent selection and high curatorial standards. Members of the 2026 committee are:

  • Lars Nittve (Chair) – Museum Director Emeritus, founding director of Tate Modern, and former director of Moderna Museet, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and M+. Today, he works as an independent advisor to museums worldwide.
  • Marie Nipper – Director, ARKEN Museum of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen.
  • Pilvi Kalhama – Director, Museum of Architecture & Design, Helsinki.
  • Magnus af Petersens – Independent curator, former Director of Bonniers Konsthall.
  • Tone Hansen – Director, Munch Museum, Oslo.

Which galleries are eligible for participation?

Eligible galleries are those whose primary business is organizing exhibitions in close collaboration with living artists, and responsibly marketing and selling their works. Galleries must operate a permanent exhibition space open to the public with a regular program.Galleries may combine representation of living artists with estates, art advisory, or other art-related activities. They should demonstrate long-term artist relationships and professional, responsible practices towards all stakeholders.

Galleries primarily financed by public funding or run mainly by artists are not eligible.

Are there any artist requirements?

Market Art Fair prioritizes applications with solo presentations as well as curated duo- and group shows. The fair mainly focuses on living contemporary artists but also accepts estate presentations when relevant. We welcome applications across all artistic media, with selection based on the quality of the presentation.

Is the fair open to non-Nordic galleries and artists?

Yes. Since 2025, the fair has been open to all galleries and artists regardless of nationality. We look forward to welcoming more international participants, and several non-Nordic galleries successfully took part in 2025.

What are the booth specifications?

Booths range from 18–45 sqm, priced at 3,750 SEK/sqm (approx. 340 EUR) excluding VAT. All booths include high-quality temporary walls, standard lighting, one electrical outlet, internet connection, and daily cleaning.

Additional wall space facing public areas will be available for some booths for a surcharge. The complete price list for additional walls will be provided upon allocation of booths and you may indicate your interest in additional wall space when sending your application.

What else is included in my participation?

Market Art Fair places strong emphasis on community. Participating galleries are invited to an exclusive program including collector dinners, a professionals’ lunch with institutional representatives, VIP receptions, and other networking events.In addition, galleries benefit from year-round marketing, promotion, and collaborations, as well as special hotel and shipping offers from Market Art Fair’s partners.
