James White, UK
James White is well known for his highly detailed paintings of incidental moments / observations of his immediate environment.
Derived from photographs and painted in a highly contrasted monochrome palette – his object-based works (always presented within perspex box frames), function as stills of life, that capture the transient beauty and imagery of everyday life – the subtle, often overlooked details that shape our daily experiences.
James White studied Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art (1986-1989) and Royal College of Art, London (1989-1991). He has shown extensively in Europe and USA with solo exhibitions at Galerie Thomas Zander, Cologne/Paris, Galerie Greta Meert, Brussels, Belgium, Blain Southern, London, Sean Kelly Gallery, New York andGerhardsen Gerner, Oslo/Berlin. White lives and works in London. He has a solo show opening March 2026 atRodder Gallery New York and is now represented by Anthony Wilkinson Gallery in London.
