Dick Hedlund, SE

Dick Hedlund’s process is both experimental and meditative. Forgotten sketches, discarded fragments, and abandoned works are reborn, woven together into new forms that carry traces of their past lives.

In Redux, polyesters, metals, stones, and threads converge into sculptural bodies thats way and breathe, revealing hidden rhythms of balance and tension. Hedlund uses the sewing machine as his tool and extension to his thoughts and method of repeating patterns and shapes to fill the fabrics and canvases the hold his images and abstract world.

In his sculptural works represented in the images attached to the application, we meet canvases that are filled with patterns the artists body is present in the casts of his body. In the latest large scale sculpture we meet more of a troll like creature of the woods. Where hands and feet are sculpted and crafted with axe and knife and burnt with an open flame.

Dick Hedlunds has exhibited widely in Sweden and internationally since graduating in 2016 from Malmö Art Academy. The gallery has to date held 3 solo shows with Hedlund and included his works in a number of group showsand art fair presentations. Hedlund is represented in public and private collections in Sweden, Norway and Mexico.
