Market Art Fair

Coulisse Gallery, SE

Founded in early 2022 by Filip Zięciak and now co-led with Jeanette Gunnarsson, Coulisse Gallery is dedicated to highlighting emerging and innovative local and international artists at pivotal stages in their careers.

The gallery’s goal is to connect these artists with passionate collectors and art lovers both in Stockholm and beyond. Collaboration is central to the mission, and the gallery strives to bring a dynamic new energy to the city’s art scene by engaging with artists, galleries, and curators who explore shared visual and conceptual themes. These often include environmental concerns, gender issues, and queer identities.

This year's presentation

For Market Art Fair 2026, Jonatan Pihlgren will present a continuation of his current body of work, an exploration of the home, transforming interiors into still lifes and memento mori of the everyday, turning domestic spaces into a psychological theatre where nostalgia is entangled with unease. Childhood, when reality and imagination are porous, is often recalled through a softened lens that edits experience into warm recollections, concealing its more troubling dimensions. Yet lived experience can be far stranger. A hallway light at night might shelter a lurking shadow, and the monsters under the bed might be both realand imagined.

Pihlgren captures this duality with interiors that contain tenderness and menace, beauty and distortion, intimacy and alienation. Guided by improvisation and emotional intuition, Pihlgren paints from life, documenting people close to him. Family, friends, and animals all become protagonists in these interior dramas.
