Tomas Lundgren’s (b. 1985) work is based on the aesthetic concept of mimesis.

Using archival material as a starting point, he creates (or recreates) paintings that explore the often deceptive qualities of representation and reproduction. Lundgren’s time-consuming grayscale paintings evokes fragments of memory or echoes rather than the actual events from which the images originate.
