Sverre Bjertnæs, NO
Sverre Bjertnæs (b. 1976, Trondheim) is widely regarded as one of Norway’s leading contemporary painters, known for a practice that bridges classical figuration with conceptual and formal experimentation.
His works often unfold like a visual stream of consciousness: fragmented imagery, recurring motifs, and painterly interventions reveal layers of memory, cultural references, and personal symbolism.
Over time, he has developed a deeply distinctive visual language, merging technical mastery with an openness to intuition and chance. While his practice also includes drawing, sculpture, and installation, painting remains central.
