Christian Lemmerz, born in 1959 in Karlsruhe, Germany, is a German/Danish – indeed, international – sculptor.

A philosophical and deeply reflective artist, Lemmerz’s work revolves around death and the existential states that precede it. He has created – and continues to create – works whose striking, powerful forms, executed in a wide range of materials both traditional (marble, bronze, and aluminum) and unconventional (fat, soap, wax, Jesmonite, and insulation foam), speak directly to both the heart and the mind of anyone who encounters or owns a piece by Christian Lemmerz.
