A Nordic hub for art, commerce, and creative exchange, renowned for its curatorial rigour and welcoming atmosphere.

Founded in 2006 as a joint initiative by galleries from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, Market Art Fair has established itself as the leading market and meeting place for contemporary art in the Nordic region. Over the years, the fair has grown from a small-scale initiative into Scandinavia’s longest-running premier art fair, without losing its collaborative spirit and uniquely familiar character.

Past editions have seen the fair expand in different ways, from a two-year spotlight on emerging galleries through Market Debut at Spritmuseum, to a full takeover of Liljevalchs Konsthall. In 2026, Market Art Fair will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a relocation to Magasin 9, enabling the fair to expand both in scale and ambition.

While Market Art Fair remains firmly rooted in the Nordic art scene, in 2025 it broadened its vision to include international presentations. This global outlook reflects the evolving dynamics of the art world and marks an ongoing expansion. Today, Market Art Fair welcomes galleries, artists, and collectors from around the globe to experience a boutique fair with a Nordic perspective and worldwide reach – designed for discovery, dialogue, and dealmaking.

“Market Art Fair’s growth reflects Stockholm’s emergence as a leading art destination, driven by its vibrant gallery scene. For nearly two decades, we’ve been a meeting place for galleries, artists, and collectors, united by a commitment to quality of art and meaningful connections. With its boutique scale, Market offers an intimate environment where every interaction counts. [Now] we’re amplifying our ethos globally, inviting the world to experience a fair where art has space to shine, connections flourish, and business thrives.”

Lars Nittve, Chair of Market Art Fair’s Selection Committee, Museum Director Emeritus, founding director of Tate Modern, and former director of Moderna Museet, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and M+.
