Tekla Bergman Fröberg

Tekla Bergman Fröberg's artistry is close to her twin sister’s in many ways. Tekla Bergman Fröberg is reusing materials as well. She searches for lost beings, meanings and languages, so as to give them new life. Inspiration is found in dreams, nightmares and in parallel states of mind. Above all, she senses that her calling is to investigate the mysterious, hidden at the edge of perception. Destruction is a central part of creation. Broken china returns to life. Older cute figurines are combined into sculptures with a much more fierce expression. Other sculptures display demonic features.

Tekla Bergman Fröberg, born in 1994, lives and works in Gothenburg, Sweden. She has studied at Gothenburg School of Art. She holds a master's degree in Free Art at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, 2021.

Rakel Bergman Fröberg

Rakel Bergman Fröberg describes her work as a constant construction and demolition of both things and situations. She returns to the recurring borderland between different identities – the self and the human animal. "Sometimes I take on the role of an animal, reaching different borderlands in this transformation; on other occasions I study myself in diverse social situations and everyday encounters”.

Rakel Bergman Fröberg sculptures consist of recycled material: light bulbs, wash basins, scrap from the forest, etc., a circular art. Everything can be reused and reborn in a new shape. She also works with wood engravings.

Jonatan Pihlgren

Jonatan Pihlgren's art of painting moves in a zone between the conscious and the unconscious. One motif sphere bears witness of the artist's immediate surroundings, basically everyday motifs, but the expressions of those are never trivial. There is raw power and fervor that gives the performances an unmistakable existential resonance. Another motif sphere in Pihlgren's painting is populated by enigmatic figures and incomprehensible mythical or ritual events, perhaps echoes from a distant past. The dynamic, intense character of Pihlgren's way of painting can bring to mind the power of early 20th century German expressionism.

Jonathan Pihlgren, born in 1993, is living and working in Gothenburg, Sweden. He has studied at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, where he holds a master’s degree, 2021. Pihlgren was awarded the prestigious Becker's artist scholarship in Stockholm in 2023. He is mainly working as a painter, but is also active as a sculptor and performance artist.
