Julius Nord SE

Julius Nord, born in 1992 in Linköping, has spent the last five years studying at the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm. In Julius' earlier works, the paintings can be seen as interpretations of personal experiences where seemingly trivial events and objects are given a central place. Everyday monotony is reimagined in new contexts, where the motifs stimulate an awareness of group identity and self-esteem.

For several years, Julius' paintings have referred to the sports world. What first sparked his interest in engaging with the world of sport in his art was the sense of chaos that is seen in the floors of gyms and halls used for multiple different sports, where lines of different vibrant colors lie in a well-thought-out arrangement that nevertheless feels messy. If you consider one of the colored line, you can clearly trace and identify the playing field of that color.

Among athletic venues, the tennis court holds a special place in Julius's artistic exploration. Its symmetry, consisting of ten squares divided into two, captivates him. The lines on the tennis court define the sport, establishing rules for individual play within a delimited domain, allowing performers to unleash their imagination.
