Galleri Bo Bjerggaard
Copenhagen
Galleri Bo Bjerggaard was founded in 1999. Initially located in the center of Copenhagen, in 2007 the gallery moved to a larger location in the old Meat Packing District.
Galleri Bo Bjerggaard presents international contemporary art from Europe and America. While its main focus is contemporary painting, the gallery also exhibits sculpture, photography, video and installations. The gallery has two separate exhibitions spaces, each with two to three adjoining rooms, allowing for two exhibitions to be presented simultaneously. The gallery participates in international art fairs throughout Europe and North America
For Market Art Fair 2024, Galleri Bo Bjerggaard presents a meticulously curated booth featuring the works of two Danish artists, Emily Gernild (b. 1985) and John Kørner (b. 1967). Emily Gernild's new paintings adorn the walls, showcasing her abstract compositions that often revolve around classical still life subjects. Everyday items like vegetables, fruits, flowers, and vessels are recurring motifs in her vibrant artwork. Gernild employs dynamic brushstrokes on large canvases, using traditional materials such as rabbit-skin glue, oil, stick, watercolour, gesso, and acrylic.
In contrast, John Kørner's sculptures 'Problems' are arranged on the floor in a grid. Kørner's work explores societal concerns, addressing contemporary global issues like migration, sex trafficking, conflicts, and systems of production and consumption. The sculptures become a canvas where Kørner manifests his narrative.
