Having operated nomadically since its inception, the gallery has now established a permanent
presence in the vibrant heart of Fitzrovia, central London, as of April 2023. What once was a public car park has been transformed into our residence at 45 Berners Street, breathing fresh life into the 2,200 sq ft space. The gallery takes pride in being an integral part of the dynamic Fitzrovia art community, known for its thriving and taste-making galleries.

Berntson Bhattacharjee has a collaborative curatorial approach that offers opportunities for artists to develop their practice and realise ambitious projects. Within the rapidly growing emerging art market, the gallery aims to foster a slower paced environment which is driven by quality over trend. The gallery also provides artists with international exposure through their satellite programme and residency in Sweden. The gallery is also committed to building genuine relationships with collectors, whether they are first-time buyers or already established in the community.

Jessie Stevenson

Jessie Stevenson (b. 1993) is a British artist based between London and Norfolk. She graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Fine Art in 2017, including an Erasmus programme at the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Vienna in 2015. In 2022 Jessie graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art with an MFA in painting, receiving The Bartolomeu dos Santos Graduate Award.

Predominantly focusing on painting, Jessie is interested in the performative nature of this medium and is directly influenced by her surroundings. Her recent work is inspired by the wild landscape of her home in Norfolk.

TInterested in natural phenomena, Jessie takes familiar imagery found in Art history and combines it with her own experience of memory and place to create a feeling of sensory pleasure and spatial uncertainty in the work. By creating her own canvas ground using a mix of local marsh clay, she gives the physical basis of her work an important role in the process of making. Her colours are suggestive of contemporary digital pigments found in fashion advertising, while also evoking a sense of whimsical romanticism.
