Anja Fredell guide of Galleri Hedenius

Anja Fredell’s work takes the form of tufted textile pieces, created using a gun-like machine – a tool that combines elements of a sewing machine and a drill. This technique demands intense, fast-paced, and physically demanding movements. By shooting yarn through fabric and following the outline of an underdrawing, the yarn on the reverse side is cut down, resulting in soft, three-dimensional, and tactile pieces that resemble paintings.

The exhibition at Galleri Hedenius booth 26 features textile works of various scales alongside with pastel crayon paintings on paper – a direction Fredell has recently explored. These paintings share the same semiabstract pictorial language as the tufted textiles. However, while the textiles emphasise physicality and dimensionality, the paintings strip the materiality down, leaving the colours to stand bare on the paper.

On Saturday May 17th at 14.00, Galleri Hedenius invites you to booth 26 where Anja Fredell will give a guided tour through her art pieces.
