Oscar Eriksson Furunes, SE
Oscar Eriksson Furunes focuses on the relationship between light and darkness in his art, using spatial installations to explore themes like memory, relationships, and history, especially from a queer perspective.
By reworking fragmented archival images and historical materials, he challenges traditional narratives and encourages viewers to think about their own identities and stories. His work invites questions about where personal and collective histories start and finish, creating a space for conversations about how the past influences the present.
In 2023, Oscar Eriksson Furunes earned his MFA from the Malmö Art Academy and holds a master’s in architecture from NTNU in Trondheim. Since then, he has participated in several group and solo exhibitions, including one at the Malmö Art Museum in December 2024. He received the Høstutstillingsprisen 2024 for his work “night watch,” featured in the Høstutstillingen at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo. He lives and works in Malmö.
