Maria Rubinke, DK
Fiction plays a central role in the work of Maria Rubinke, which contains the artist’s own interpretations of well-known characters from fairytales, folklore and children’s literature as well as themes from the literary canon, in an attempt to process existential questions and the troubles of life, whether it be sorrow or love.
Maria Rubinke primarily works in bronze and marble, and her use of well-known characters serves to create resonance and leave the final interpretation in the hands of the viewer. Maria Rubinke is behind several public commissions, including the door to the renownedRestaurant Alchemist in Copenhagen.
