Heini Aho, FI
In Heini Aho’s works the analytical meets the intuitive, and the material meets the immaterial.
Aho’s method is based on observing the ordinary and the characteristics of the material, with a subtly light-hearted tone; a touch of humour, wonderment, joie de vivre, or surprise. In her works she combines elements of sculpture, installation and the moving image into works addressing issues of space and perceptions of the environment.
Heini Aho (b. 1979) lives and works in Turku. She graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2015. In 2016, Aho was awarded the main prize of the William Thuring Foundation. Her works are included in the collections of the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, the Saastamoinen Foundation, the HAM Helsinki Art Museum, and the State Art Collections, among others. In addition to her many solo exhibitions, she has created numerous public art works in Finland.
