Fabian Bergmark Näsman, SE

Fabian Bergmark Näsman (b. 1991, Sweden) lives and works in Stockholm. He graduated with an MFA from Konstfack Art Academy in 2019.

Bergmark Näsman creates sculptural works that are derived from the idea of recursion and hybridization. Using singular molds, he uses a dissection and reconstruction process where he casts sculptures from the mold for Fig. 1, creating new unique works that oscillate between the natural and unnatural, raising questions of perception based on context.

Each subsequent alien figure stems from the original mother mold, crafted from a combination of whole or partial elements assembled in endlessly new configurations. Similar to the regenerative processes of salamanders, each new sculpture diverges from its original form but retains the essence of its source DNA; each new limb traces its origins back to genesis.
