Originally trained as a sculptor but mostly known for her work with video, Danish visual artist Eva Koch has created several multimedia sculptural works over the past 40 years.

Today, the work of Eva Koch continues to manifest itself within the field of sculpture, video installation and sound. The work is often site-specific and interactive, and in scale, Koch’s work relates to our own physical presence. Koch’s sculptural work, whether in bronze, polyester or wood, is characterized by their minimalism, but also contain a playful approach to the space, whether it is through the penetration of their surrounding barriers, such as walls and the ground, or the use of mirrors.

Eva Koch (b. 1953) is a video artist and sculptor, educated at the Royal Danish Academy and the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Barcelona. In Spain, Eva Koch started incorporating video and sculpture and created several multimedia sculptural works.In 2003, Koch received the Eckersberg Medal and in 2011, the Thorvaldsen Medal. Koch’s work is represented in several Danish as well as international collections, such as SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen; CGAC, Santiago deCompostella, Spain; 21C Museum Foundation, United States; Göteborg Museum of Art, Sweden. The artist is also behind a number of notable public commissions, including Christiansborg Tower, Copenhagen; Eatch Sculpture, Esbjerg; and at Vrinnevi Sjukhuset in Sweden, among others.
