Elizabeth Thun, SE

Drawing from personal impressions and historical events, Elizabeth Thun employs a collage-like approach to combine motifs from diverse environments.

As viewers, we are faced with imaginary landscapes and interior scenes where indoor and outdoor environments seem to overlap and fade into one another, creating a sense of dissolving space. A forest scene may seamlessly transition into the interior of a room, where disparate objects, patterns, and entirely abstract elements are carefully woven into the composition.

Just as memories can influence our perception of a particular place, the use of double exposure in Thun’s work suggests a narrative depth where past and present, memory and reality, coexist. This approach allows her to explore themes of memory, identity, and the passage of time, all while maintaining a strong connection to the physical landscapes which inspire her work.
