Astrid Specht Seeberg, DK

Astrid Specht Seeberg (b. 1999, Copenhagen) is a self-taught Danish sculptor.

Astrid Specht Seeberg is a sculptor based in Copenhagen. Her work delves into the complexities of identity, intimacy, and environmental and social dynamics through an immersive sculptural practice. She creates figurative creatures, sponges, and vessels of fossilised or “sealed life,” brought to life with captivating glazes and textures she develops herself. These works explore the intricate relationships and tensions between her practice and the underwater aquatic environment.

With a deep understanding of her materials and a playful, intuitive approach to clay, Specht Seeberg’s practice has evolved significantly in recent years. In 2022, she received the prestigious Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Award. Expanding her sculptural field, she frequently collaborates with marine biologists, architects, and performance artists.
