Anna Maggý, IS
Anna Maggý (b. 1995) is a Reykjavík-based photographer and director whose multidisciplinary work engages with themes of materiality, social structures, and their boundaries.
Using mediums like video, collage, installation, and primarily photography, Anna explores the intersection between reality and dreams, the tangible and intangible, often framing her artistic message through the lens of the subconscious mind. She studied at Ljósmyndaskólinn, the Photography School of Iceland, in Reykjavík from 2015 to 2018. Since then, she has developed a practice characterized by an exploration of visual storytelling and innovative techniques that question the perception of reality.
Her solo exhibitions include Streambed at Þula, Reykjavík (2024), Avoiding Death and Birth at Þula (2022-23), and Urgent Experiments on Reality at Ásmundarsalur (2022).
