V1 Gallery (DK)
Richard Colman & Thomas Campbell
V1 Gallery was founded in 2002 by Jesper Elg and Peter Funch. In 2004 Mikkel Grønnebæk joined the gallery. The gallery represents a select group of emerging and established artists and is committed to introducing art, in all media, to an international audience. Seeing art as a profound and competent media for social and political discourse, the gallery aspires to serve as a platform for art that interacts with the surrounding society.
Richard Colman’s work is known for blending figurative imagery and bold geometry. Typically using complex compositions, Colman explores themes of human sexuality, societal hierarchies, life and death. His work ranges from small to large-scale paintings, murals and installations. Colman, born 1976, Maryland, USA, currently lives and works in San Francisco. He has an extensive exhibition history in both the United States and Europe.
Thomas Campbell is a self-taught multi-media artist whose work characteristically features bold colors, graphic forms, and text. He is also affiliated with the Beautiful Losers collective; inspired by street art, punk, and hip hop, its members include Mark Gonzalez and Chris Johanson. Campbell began making his iconic sewn works from found and personal objects. Campbell has also been casting bronze sculptures since 2006.
